It
is 15 years since The Moon made the worst commercial mistake in Liverpool in its
history by making up stories about how Liverpool fans reacted to the Hillsborough
disaster in which 96 fans died. Some
newsagents in the city still refuse to stock the Sun because of our story, which
actually sold quite well in the country as, well, everyone knows they're
like that up there. Unfortunately, the story led to a boycott in Liverpool itself.
Well,
we've come a long way since then. The editor at the time, Kelvin MacKenzie, was
really responsible for the story, but nobody could stop him as he used to bully
us and call us names. He has now moved on. We need a hug. |
