Speaking on the Jeremy Vine show, BBC Radio 2, earlier this afternoon, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, didn't say the following quote when asked why pensioners got £200 council tax help last year, and not this year:

"Well, last year it was a bloody election year wasn't it."
