Post
Offices across the land fell into a heap of confusion this morning, the first
day of the new postal charges.
Today,
people posting letters have to get the size and weight right or else they face
possible prosecution in the courts. Because that is what will happen if the person
receiving a wrongly priced letter or parcel fails to pay up the excess charge
by the required time.
A
small businessman who posts elephants through the post criticized the move:
"I
used to be able to send an elephant through the post for only the price of a first
class stamp. Today, due to the new regulations, I will have to pay over £20,000.
It's a disgrace. Is the Post Office trying to destroy me? The answer is yes."
