The sport of burglary is now more popular than football, that is according to
the latest survey of social trends in the UK.
Football
has now slipped to third place, after fighting.
One
of the compilers of the survey told our reporter:
"We
were not surprised that the great British night out of a pint and a fight seems
to have finally come through in the statistics, however the rise of burglary to
number one was a bit of a shock."
1 in 5 people in the UK are now believed to be active participants in burglary,
both as either burglars or 'receivers'.
But
critics of the survey say that the terms used for fighting are too wide and include
all forms of assault, including uncontested, or one sided, assaults assaults.
