"Yesterday I gave a statement to the press in which I said that I had never given a donation to the Labour Party and that I would never give a donation to the Labour Party because I am a life long Conservative Party supporter and so any suggestion that I gave a donation on behalf of Mr Abrahams to those long haired layabout Labour hippies was a complete lie even though the donation was registered in my name.

I am pleased to report now that after having checked my cheque book I can now confirm that I did actually write a cheque to the Labour Party for £25,000 after all.

Now, whilst many conspiracy theorists might suggest that my change of mind is similar in the exact reverse to that bit in the Watergate investigation when Woodwood or Bernstein - I can't remember which one but I think it was Dustin Hoffman in the movie - called up the librarian and she immediately said she could remember getting some books for someone and then went away and then came back to the phone and then told him oh she was mistaken and she doesn't remember anything about it, this is in fact just a complete coincidence.
