As we were the main reason that Sven was hounded out of the job of England manager, we feel that it is time that we apologize unreservedly for being at least in part responsible for England not qualifying for the Euro 2008 Championships.

We now accept that Sven was a far superior coach to Steve McClaren who replaced him.

We therefore have no option but to resign our positions with immediate effect.

There will be no Sun newspaper until the New Year while we reconsider our editorial stance and put in procedures to never be this stupid again.
