Is
this the new telephone rip off?
The
final phone-in for the BBC's Last
Choir Standing last night had the
final public phone in.
15p
we are told. Well, that's if you phone
from a BT line. But calls from a mobile
phone can be "considerably more
expensive", we were told.
How
much is that then?
theVoiceofReason.co.uk
phoned in last night using the Vodafone
Smart plus pay as you go tariff.
It
cost 65p.
65p!
Where
does that 50p go? We shall be contacting
the BBC immediately to find out.
Also
when they say don't phone now because
the lines are closed and you still
might be charged... Why? Where does
this money go?
The
BBC have questions to answer.
Their
reply will be put up when we get it.
Our
email to the BBC:
Is
this the new phone-in rip off?
Could
you tell me please why it costs 65p
to vote last night using Vodafone?
I know that you say that charges from
a mobile phone will be 'considerably
higher', but I'm interested what this
extra 50p is, how it is broken down,
who gets it, that sort of thing.
I
look forward to your reply.
Show
was excellent by the way.

This
is the email I sent to Vodafone:
I
phoned the BBC 'Last Choir Standing'
phone in last night on my mobile phone
and was charged 65p for the call.
The BBC advertise the call to cost
15p on BT but says that mobile phone
charges may be considerably higher.
What
is this extra 50p? Do you get it?
Does the BBC get it?
